Inland waterway transport throughout Flanders
Barge transport forms a core part of Gosselin's inland logistics network. Through daily inland waterway connections between the Port of Antwerp-Bruges and our inland terminals, containers can move directly from the seaport to locations closer to their destination before onward distribution.
This approach reduces dependency on road transport around busy port areas and creates additional flexibility for import and export flows moving across Belgium and neighbouring European markets.
Moving containers beyond the seaport
After discharge at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, containers are transferred onto barges for transport to one of Gosselin's inland terminals in Deurne, Genk-Zuid or Wielsbeke. These terminals function as inland extensions of the seaport through the Inland Container Yard (ICY) concept. Containers can be moved out of the port environment shortly after arrival and handled closer to customers, production facilities or distribution centres.
By shifting container handling inland, cargo owners gain greater flexibility in planning storage, customs clearance, distribution and onward transport while reducing truck movements in and around the port.
Additional terminal capabilities
Connected to warehousing and distribution
Once containers arrive at an inland terminal, cargo can continue directly to its destination or move into storage and distribution operations within the Gosselin network.
For customers requiring inventory storage, order fulfilment or regional distribution after arrival, our Warehousing & Distribution provide access to bonded and non-bonded warehouse capacity across Belgium.
