Executive summary

Genk-Zuid as a European crossload hub for major world tours

Beyond its regular warehousing operations, Gosselin's Genk-Zuid site recently supported 2 international worldtours, two large-scale touring productions requiring fast, high-volume crossload logistics. Equipment for both tours arrived at Genk-Zuid through different transport modes, air freight and inland waterway respectively, before being resorted and reloaded onto trucks for onward distribution to venues across Europe.

the challenge

Moving large touring productions on a fixed schedule

Major touring productions operate on schedules with no flexibility: equipment must reach each venue in time for the next show, regardless of volume or distance. For the first tour, four cargo flights of production equipment landed in Liège and needed onward transport, temporary storage and eventual redistribution to multiple European destinations. The second tour presented a different challenge: eighty containers arriving by inland waterway had to be unloaded, sorted and reloaded onto road transport within a very tight window, with the entire Genk-Zuid site occupied by trucks during the operation.

Air freight, barge transport and rapid crossloading combined

For the first tour, Gosselin moved all equipment from the four cargo flights out of Liège to Genk-Zuid using forty trucks, where it was stored for one week. The materials were then crossloaded, with an American production crew sorting equipment on-site and immediately reloading it into trucks bound for the tour's next European stops. For the second tour, eighty containers arrived at Genk-Zuid via inland waterway and were fully unloaded within two days. The contents were sorted and reloaded into eighty trucks destined for Madrid, with the terminal and warehouse working in parallel to keep the operation moving.

the impact

Genk-Zuid proven as a hub for complex, time-critical event logistics

Both projects demonstrated that Genk-Zuid can absorb high-volume, time-critical crossload operations without disrupting its core storage activities. Handling forty inbound trucks and one week of storage for the first tour, alongside unloading and reloading eighty containers for the second tour within two days, showed the site's capacity to manage large, fast-moving volumes under pressure. According to Serdar, these projects confirm that Genk-Zuid is well equipped for complex logistics assignments where speed, flexibility and tight planning are essential, reinforcing the site's role in event and tour logistics alongside its established warehousing operations.

conclusion

A proven site for high-speed, high-volume tour logistics

Successfully crossloading equipment for two major world tours within days shows how combined air freight, inland waterway transport and terminal capacity at Genk-Zuid support demanding, time-critical event logistics across Europe.
