On-site fumigation for export-ready cargo

Fumigation is an essential step for many international shipments. Depending on the destination country and the type of cargo, goods may need to be treated before export to prevent the spread of pests and invasive species.

We offer efficient fumigation services directly at our container terminals. By keeping the process in house, we help reduce unnecessary transport, avoid delays with external providers and prepare your cargo for shipment in a controlled and compliant way.

General and BMSB fumigation

Gosselin Logistics provides fumigation solutions for different export requirements, from standard pest control treatment to specific seasonal or destination-driven regulations.

By combining fumigation with cargo handling and warehousing, we offer a practical one-stop service for export cargo that must be treated before shipment.

Standard fumigation

General pest control treatment to meet import requirements at destination.

BMSB fumigation

Treatment targeting the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug, an invasive agricultural pest that can affect international cargo flows to countries such as Australia and New Zealand.

Wood product fumigation

Treatment for logs, timber, wooden packaging and other wood-based products that require fumigation before export.

Winter fumigation

Controlled fumigation support during colder periods, when low temperatures can make outdoor treatment less efficient or unsuitable.

Fumigation process overview

Treatment

Containers remain stationary while the fumigant is applied according to the cargo type, destination requirements and target pest.

Duration

The treatment typically takes 12 to 24 hours, depending on the cargo, fumigation method and required exposure time.

Aeration and clearance

After treatment, the container is ventilated until the gas concentration is safe.

Certification

Once the container has been cleared, the necessary fumigation certificate or compliance documentation can be issued for the destination port.

Fumigation solutions to cover your needs

Our fumigation zones are designed to support different cargo flows and treatment requirements. This allows a wide range of cargo to be treated safely, efficiently and in line with international compliance standards.

Because fumigation can be carried out on site, containers do not need to be moved to an external provider. This helps reduce additional haulage, improves planning and keeps the cargo flow under better control.

Gas testing and degassing for import containers

Import containers may contain residual gases or vapours after long-distance transport, certain production processes or the use of treated materials and packaging. Before unloading, gas testing can be arranged to check whether the atmosphere inside the container is safe for handling.

If gas levels exceed accepted safety limits, degassing can be carried out before the container is opened or unloaded. This helps protect warehouse teams, cargo handlers and everyone involved in the import process while keeping the operation compliant and controlled.
