The Gosselin Container terminal in Antwerp

Located on the Albert Canal in Deurne, the Gosselin Container terminal is the closest inland container and breakbulk terminal to the Port of Antwerp-Bruges. It's the first inland terminal when leaving the port by barge, and the last terminal before sailing back, a strategic position that gives your cargo a faster, more flexible route between the port and the European hinterland.

Daily barge connection

The terminal is directly connected to the deep-sea terminals of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges via the Albert Canal. This 5 km barge connection allows cargo to move quickly and predictably between the terminal and the port, reducing dependence on busy road corridors and port-side handling windows.

With 2 dedicated barge berths, including a RoRo (roll-on/roll-off) quay, vessels can be loaded and discharged efficiently, helping to reduce waiting times and maintain predictable rotations.

Take your cargo off the road

Antwerp's port-side road network is among the busiest in Europe. Because Deurne sits closer to the port than any other inland terminal in the network, it offers the shortest possible barge leg and the greatest road-km saved per container of any Gosselin terminal. Moving containers by barge instead of truck for the first and last leg of the journey means:

Fewer trucks on congested port-access roads

More predictable transit times

Lower emissions per container

A reliable modal-shift solution for recurring cargo flows

Proof in practice: from 82 truck journeys to 5 barge shipments

When faced with growing transport volumes and limited truck capacity, Gosselin shifted nearly 1,000 moving crates between Antwerp's Left Bank and Deurne from road to water, consolidating the flow into just five barge shipments instead of 82 truck journeys.

The result was a more scalable transport model that reduced pressure on Antwerp's road network while making full use of the terminal's inland waterway connection.

180 000 m² of  warehousing

Directly next to the terminal, Gosselin operates 180 000 m² of warehousing, part of Deurne's wider 370 000 m² logistics footprint across the site. These facilities support containerised cargo, breakbulk shipments, project cargo and long-term inventory storage.

Because terminal and warehouse operations sit on the same site, cargo can move directly between storage and handling activities without additional transport movements.

Integrated terminal, warehouse and transport operations

The terminal forms part of Gosselin's wider logistics network. Cargo arriving in Deurne can continue by road transport throughout Belgium and Europe, move into warehouse operations, or connect with additional logistics services, combining terminal handling, storage, transport and distribution within one operational setup.

Where terminal operations form part of a larger logistics network, our Control Tower teams can coordinate planning, communication and execution across warehouses, transport providers, terminals and customer locations through a single point of contact.
