Bring the port closer to the market

The shortest road distance is not always the smartest logistics route. At our Warehouse in LAR (Lauwe, Aalbeke, Rekkem), cargo can travel from the Port of Antwerp-Bruges by rail, then be positioned in Gosselin's 11 000+ m² bonded warehouse closer to its final market.

Instead of relying on a long road journey for the complete inland leg, rail handles the main movement, the bonded warehouse absorbs timing mismatches between arrival and demand, and electric road transport takes care of the final mile. That's what makes LAR the right base for anyone serving West Flanders and Northern France.

Looking for rail schedules, wagon capacity or terminal handling specifically?

A connected hub for rail, storage and onward delivery

Once cargo arrives at LAR, the on-site bonded warehouse provides flexibility around final delivery. This means imported goods can remain under customs supervision until they're released. Duties and VAT only become due once cargo leaves the warehouse, giving customers more control over cash flow and inventory timing.

This is particularly valuable when the timing of port arrival and customer demand doesn't perfectly match. Instead of pushing every shipment straight to the customer, inventory can be positioned at LAR and released exactly when required.

Case study: Connecting Antwerp and Northern France through seamless multimodal logistics

Paper reels arriving at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges needed a logistics solution that could bridge the distance to customers in Northern France without compromising reliability, flexibility or transport cost. Gosselin combined rail transport, bonded storage and sustainable last-mile delivery into one coordinated flow. Containers were transferred directly from the port onto rail services heading to Rekkem, moving cargo inland quickly via 4 connections a week.

At LAR, the paper reels were unloaded and stored in the dedicated bonded warehouse, allowing inventory to be deployed on demand instead of being pushed to the customer immediately after arrival. Final deliveries into Northern France were then carried out by e-truck wherever possible. The result is a supply chain that shifts the long-distance leg off the road, positions inventory closer to the customer and keeps regular rail departures predictable, while reducing emissions on the final delivery leg without compromising service levels.

Connected to West Flanders and Northern France

LAR’s location places Gosselin close to important industrial and commercial markets such as Kortrijk, Roeselare, Waregem, Tournai and Lille. From Rekkem, road distribution covers the final distance into Belgium or France, increasingly by e-truck where possible. By combining rail, bonded storage and sustainable road distribution, Gosselin offers a practical alternative to moving the full Antwerp-to-customer journey by diesel truck.

A rail terminal with a track record

LAR isn't a greenfield site. The terminal was previously operated by Delcatrans, and following Gosselin Group's acquisition of Delcatrans in 2025, it was rebranded as Gosselin LAR and integrated into Gosselin's multimodal network, bringing established transport, warehousing and synchromodal capabilities connecting the Kortrijk–Lille–Tournai–Paris region with the seaports.

More than rail

Rail is the differentiator, but it's not the only mode available. Through Gosselin's wider network, LAR connects with Road Transport, Barge Transport, Sea Freight and other multimodal solutions depending on the cargo flow.
